Notifications
- Provost’s RTP Memo: QUFA is aware of a memo sent from the Provost’s Office to Department Heads on June 19 regarding Renewal/Tenure/Promotion (RTP) for tenure track and tenured faculty members. QUFA recommends that members consult the Collective Agreement for guidance on RTP processes and criteria. In particular, Articles 30.6, 30.14.1, 30.6.2, 30.6.4, and 24.1.5 emphasize the primacy of the criteria in the Collective Agreement and acknowledge the diversity of scholarship and creative work that QUFA members produce. - Meetings with Senior Administration: If you receive notice from Queen’s Administration directing you to attend a meeting with a senior administrator and you believe the meeting is related to a potential disciplinary matter, or, it is suggested by the Administration that you may bring a QUFA representative, please immediately reach out to us at qufa@queensu.ca
- Continuing Adjunct Conversion: If you are currently in the process of converting to a Continuing Adjunct appointment or have converted to Continuing Adjunct appointment in the recent past (last five years), we encourage you to send your appointment letter to QUFA for review. A correct FTE, Course Load Entitlement, and Years of Experience are essential as they determine teaching workload and are used in the calculation of the nominal and actual salaries. For consultation send your appointment letter and any additional information to QUFA Labour Relations Officer Micheline Waring at micheline.waring@queensu.ca.
Deadlines
- Annual Performance Review: Annual Reports are due on September 30, 2025. See Article 28 of the Collective Agreement. Please note the different processes for full-time faculty and Term Adjuncts. The upcoming Annual Reports cover the 2024-2025 Academic Year (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025). Please contact your Unit Head about accessing forms.
- Term Adjuncts need to fill out Appendix F in the Collective Agreement. These reviews are important not only as an annual review, but they are requirements for General Right of Reappointment (GRoR) and Continuing Adjunct conversion applications. GRoR requires 3 completed evaluations and Continuing Adjunct conversion requires 6 evaluations. See Article 32 of the Collective Agreement for details.
- For Term Adjunct Members who teach in the Spring-Summer Term, reporting is as follows: Spring teaching (May/June 2024) is part of the previous Academic Year (since it occurs before July 1). Summer teaching (July/August 2024) is included in the 2024-25 Academic Year Report. Spring/Summer teaching (May to August 2024) is also included in the 2024-25 Academic Year Report.
- Tuition Support Plan: The fall submission window should be September 1 – November 1, 2025 (we will confirm on our website and in the next issue of Digest). See Appendix N of the Collective Agreement and click here for the application form.
- Fund for Scholarly and Creative Work and Professional Development (Adjuncts): Stay tuned for the fall application deadline in October 2025. The updated application and guidelines will be located here.
- Childcare Support Plan: The deadline will be February 1, 2026. Please see Appendix M of the Collective Agreement and click here for the application form.
