Bargaining Updates
- Special General Meeting on the Bargaining Mandate: A Special GM has been scheduled for April 8, 2026 at 10:00am. This will be a virtual meeting and the agenda was sent on April 1 via email. RSVP to ep43@queensu.ca for the meeting Zoom link. All members of the Bargaining Unit will be able to participate in an online vote on the Bargaining Mandate through Simply Voting. You will receive a ballot via email at noon on April 8. Please check your spam and clutter folders if the ballot is not in your inbox at that time.
Spring General Meeting and Elections
- Spring General Meeting: QUFA’s regular Spring General Meeting is scheduled for April 24, 2026 at 1pm on Zoom. The official notice will be sent via email on April 10 and the agenda on April 17. RSVP to ep43@queensu.ca for the meeting Zoom link.
- Nominations and Elections: Each year half of the Executive Committee positions are up for renewal and QUFA holds elections at the Spring General Meeting. This year, the positions up for renewal include: Treasurer, Secretary, Grievance Chair, JCAA Co-Chair, Equity Representative, Librarian & Archivist Representative, Continuing Adjunct Representative, and 1 Member at Large position. See Article 9 (p.8) and Bylaw No. 1 (A) (p. 17) for information on elections, nominations, and timelines. To nominate or self-nominate, or to inquire about nominations, please send a message to qufaed@queensu.ca.
Spring Workshops
- Adjunct Rights Workshop (virtual): April 21 from 1:30-3:00pm. Please email QUFA Member Services Officer Doug Nesbitt at d.nesbitt@queensu.ca for Zoom details.
- QUFA-Queen’s RTP/RCAP Workshop for Applicants: Please join us for a workshop on Renewal, Tenure, and Promotion/Renewal, Continuing Appointment, and Promotion on May 12 from 9:30-11:30am. This session will be held in person. Please email vpaa@queensu.ca for room details.
- QUFA-Queen’s RTP/RCAP Workshop for Heads, Committee Chairs, Departmental Managers/Administrators: Please join us for a workshop on Renewal, Tenure, and Promotion/Renewal, Continuing Appointment, and Promotion on May 15 from 9:30-11:30am. This session will be held in person. Please email vpaa@queensu.ca for room details.

- QUFA Caucuses:
- BIPOC Caucus: Supports and advocates for members who are Black, Indigenous, or racialized and/or visible minorities. It is organized to collectively discuss workplace matters specific to QUFA’s BIPOC members and work towards racial equity in our workplace. - Caregivers Caucus: Connects members involved in care responsibilities (e.g., young children, seniors, family members with disabilities) to share experiences, concerns, and resources. Contact QUFA Political Action and Communications Committee (PACC) Chair Vanessa Thompson (vt25@queensu.ca) for more info.
- New Faculty Caucus: Connects recently appointed faculty (up to 5 years) to share experiences and concerns pertinent to new faculty. Contact QUFA PACC Chair Vanessa Thompson (vt25@queensu.ca) for more info.
Deadlines
- The Fund for Scholarly Research and Creative Work and Professional Development (Adjuncts) has a Spring/Summer deadline of June 1. The application form is available here. We will send additional detailed email reminders over the next few weeks. Please email QUFA Member Services Officer Doug Nesbitt at d.nesbitt@queensu.ca with questions.
