Announcements: Kingston Day of Action for Bill 148 – October 15, 2018

Brothers, Sisters and Fellow Workers,

Join us this Monday October 15th for a Day of Action. The Chambers of Commerce and Ontario business lobby are saying jump—Doug Ford is asking how high. However, in spite of the announcements made by the Minister of Labour and Doug Ford’s own verbal commitment to repeal Bill 148, Legislation has not dropped!

We need to seize upon this moment of hesitation to send a strong and clear message to the Ontario PC government: Hands off $15 and Hands off Workers’ Rights like Paid Sick Days and Equal Pay for Equal Work!

Monday October 15th, we’ll be hosting 3 events in Kingston:

Noon – 1pm: Queen’s University (University and Union)

1pm-2pm: St. Lawrence College (main entrance, transit stop)

4pm-5pm: Cataraqui Town Centre (main entrance)

Help us to gather signatures and messages to Doug Ford on our “Hands off $15” Banner, and build support in Kingston for Bill 148 and Decent Work. RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/163504867919883/

Can’t attend? Consider bringing the banner to your own union meeting or workplace! Get in touch with me at VPC@PSAC901.org  or give me a call (613-292-6484) and we can set something up!

*Important*: Emergency Preparedness for Anti-Worker Legislation

We need to be ready if Doug Ford drops legislation to roll back workers’ rights!

The Day OF the announcement, there will be an emergency phone-banking session to invite our allies to a rally the next day. Volunteer sign-up here: https://goo.gl/forms/FO4w9igX5M5uqjPs2

The Day AFTER the announcement, there will be a Rally for Workers’ Rights at the Princess/MacDonnell Tim Hortons from 6pm-7pm.

In Solidarity,

Lesley Jamieson
