5.21 p.m.: Still in Mediation

Our President, Paul Young, reports at 5:21 p.m.:

“No further word from the team so far. Hope they get dinner!”

So, stay strong, send a message of support to your team. This is their 4th day in mediation with the news blackout.

Be reassured. No news is good news. It means QUFA and the Administration remain at the table. Talking is good!

As soon as our President has something to report, he will. As soon as something can be posted to Job Action Readiness, it will be. In addition, and as soon as it is possible to do so, QUFA members will get an e-mail from qufacomm on both QUFA-L over the queensu.ca server and on the alternative email list (to those of you who provided alternate emails).

This will be the last post until there is something to report.

Job Action Contingency Plans

As sent to QUFA Members via qufacomm on Friday 12 August 2011

Dear QUFA Member:

We are writing to thank the many Members who completed the Job Action Preparation Form and to give you a sense of what to expect in the coming days.

As your Negotiating Team works hard on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to obtain a fair settlement, the Job Action Committee is making contingency plans should a lockout occur or a strike be called.

We are in the process of creating a picket schedule and are working overtime to make sure that everyone is slotted into duties. Members who have (potential) shifts assigned for Monday and Tuesday will be informed of the details by e-mail and/or phone over the weekend.

Regular updates about the negotiations and job action preparations will be posted on the Job Action Readiness blog:

http://www.qufa.ca/jobaction/

You are encouraged to check the site regularly.

Thank you for your support and energy during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Job Action Committee (JAC), QUFA
