Welcome to the QUFA Strike/Lockout Resources Site

This website was created in June 2015 to provide QUFA members and other Queen’s community members with timely labour information. The collective agreement between QUFA and the university expired on 30 April 2015, though while bargaining is ongoing its terms remain in effect. Bargaining between QUFA and the university began on 21 January 2015. The university administration informed QUFA on 2 June 2015 that it was unilaterally filing for conciliation with the Ministry of Labour.

Strike/lockout pay

Members have been asking about strike/lockout pay. The following information is from our FAQs: Striking QUFA members receive financial support in the form of non-taxable strike pay. QUFA is a member of the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) Defence Fund. If QUFA is locked out or goes on strike, this fund dispenses strike pay to QUFA from its $20M+ reserves.
